The applicant is proposing development of the subject lands to facilitate the expansion of the existing Avening Pit.
The purpose of the Official Plan Amendment and Zoning By-law Amendment application is to designate the lands from Agricultural to Extractive Industrial. The zoning amendment will revise the existing Extractive Industrial Exception (M3-E1) on the Avening Pit lands as well as zone from Agricultural to Extractive Industrial Zone.
Concurrently there is also an application being considered under the Aggregate Resources Act (ARA) to the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry to consider an ARA license for a Category 1, Class A Pit. They are applying to extend the existing license of the Aveing Pit onto these lands. The application is affecting 89.1ha of land but only 80.6 ha of land will be extracted.
The Planning Department, consulting agencies, and internal Township departments are presently reviewing the applicant’s first submission for an Official Plan and Zoning By-law Amendment.
A public meeting has not yet been scheduled.
